Pre-emergent weed control in Yakima

Weeds take the nutrients and water your grass needs. Colonial's Yakima office applies high-grade pre-emergent herbicide so the weeds never get started, and so landscaping later is not affected.

How pre-emergent helps

  • Prevents growth

treatments target weed seeds in the soil before they grow into plants.

  • Timing

most effective in early spring or fall, before germination.

  • Common weeds

works on crabgrass, dandelions and more.

Why not a sterilant?

People ask for a sterilant, but there are no legal sterilant materials for homes. What most people think of as sterilant is restricted to airports, railyards and heavy industrial sites. Washington State law prohibits any material that lasts longer than a year on residential property, whether a commercial applicator or the homeowner puts it down.

We use high-grade pre-emergent herbicides instead. They protect against broadleaf and grassy weeds all season and, if you landscape the treated areas later, there are no long-term effects.
